BIOGRAPHY
Born into a family of beauty industry professionals, Dyana Aives stayed near
her hometown of Brooklyn, New York, until she hit her 20s, at which point she
moved to California. There, while working as a model, she turned a pastime
into a profession by finishing her formal training as a makeup artist. As a
girl, she'd done her friends' makeup at slumber parties. Later, it was for
their proms. Eventually, she made them up as they were married.
As a trained professional in California with an award-winning makeup
artist
aunt in the film industry, Dyana decided to strike out on her own and
headed
for the fashion world. First, at store counters, and later, in the assembly
line makeup work of modeling agencies, she worked hard making every woman
that crossed her chair beautiful, and making beautiful women immaculate.
Eventually, she moved into magazines and got into the kind of intense,
specific artistry that's defined her career. ,_,At times bold, at times
understated, Dyana's work can stand alone as the style itself, or it can
insightfully complement and enhance a photographer's or director's vision. ,_,
With gigs like the MTV Video Music Awards and VH1 Fashion Awards; consistent
appearances in magazines such as InStyle and Surface; clients like Thierry
Mugler and Coach and Photographer Peter Beard; and demonstrated excellence
in a long list of other broadcast and print media and runway shows, she's
come a long way from slumber parties.
